Bonus Disney Cruise Tips #11-20

11) Find the Pin Boards in the Merchandise Shops

I discovered that by asking at each shop if they have a pin board or special lanyard of pins, I found a great number of pins that I wouldn’t have otherwise known were onboard the ship.

12) Order a Shirley Temple or Roy Rogers

For a twist on your regular nightly beverage, order a Shirley Temple (Sprite with cherry) or Roy Rogers (Coke with cherry) with your dinner. It’s free and your servers will bring a plate of cherries to eat along with your drinks.

13) Request Toddler Utensils

Your little ones have smaller hands and sometimes adult-size forks, knives and spoons aren’t easy for young children to use. Instead of bringing your own silverware to dinner, request toddler silverware from your server.

14) Request Uncrustables & Potato Chips for Your Port Adventure Days

As you venture off the ship for an excursion, there’s a chance you will get hungry during the day.

The night before your day at port, call Room Service and request Uncrustables (peanut butter & jelly with no crusts) and potato chips to be delivered to your stateroom. Since they are sealed, you can take them off the ship with you in many ports.

15) Have Vanellopes Delivered to Your Dining Room

On the Disney Dream, Vanellopes is a shop that sells sweet treats and fancy desserts for an extra charge.

You can request one of their delicious ice cream sundaes (or other fancy desserts) to be delivered to the main dining room so you can enjoy it with your main meal. They will happily do it and won’t charge you extra for the delivery!

16) Enjoy Free Pastries at Cove Cafe

At Cove Cafe, you will find free cakes, pastries and other bite-size treats available for free self-serve. This is an adults-only perk, but you don’t have to buy one of their premium coffees to get them.

17) Nightly Shows are Viewable in Your Stateroom

Sometimes a child becomes too tired to make it to the nightly entertainment show. Many of these have been recorded previously and you can watch them on the TV in your stateroom.

18) Watch a Sunset or Sunrise

The sun coming up or going down over the horizon at sea is a wonderful spectacle you should enjoy at least once on your cruise. Your personal navigator will point out sunrise and sunset times each day.

19) Book a Placeholder Early in Your Cruise

This is an important tip I wish I had known before my first Disney Cruise.

While on the ship, you can book a Disney Cruise Placeholder for a future cruise. This is essentially a deposit toward your next cruise — even if you’re not sure when that will be. You simply are putting down a 100% refundable deposit toward any cruise you will take in the next 24 months.

Why do this?

Because it is the one time that Disney Cruise Line discounts their cruises. By booking a placeholder, you can save 10%, receive onboard credit to be used on the future cruise, and is a very reasonable deposit of only $250.

If you change your mind, the deposit is refundable.

There’s no risk, no penalties – this is a no-brainer.

The biggest time-saver is to book your placeholder early in the cruise. Don’t wait until the last day when everyone else will wanting to get in on this action.

20) Ask for Private Room at Palo

If you have reservations for the premium dining at Palo with a party of five or more, call and ask for their private room.
