What is fan art?

Fan art is usually made by fans of a particular series or character and is intended to show appreciation for them.

Fan art can be based on the source material (such as an image from the original comic book) or on someone’s interpretation of it (like when you draw your favorite superhero).

Fan art is a broad term that refers to the work of fans who create art based on their favorite works of fiction. It can be any genre, from comics and games to movies and TV shows. It can take many forms, including drawing, writing, music, 3D modeling and animation, cosplay (or costume play), crafts like sewing or needlework, and more.

The term “fan art” is most often used in reference to visual art because this form is the most common way that fans express themselves through their fandom. The term also encompasses written works such as fan fiction (storytelling set in the world of a fictional universe) and fanfiction (stories about characters from a particular work of fiction).

There are many reasons why people create fanart: some do it for fun; others do it out of love for the original work; still others wish to have their voices heard by those who create their favorite stories.

What is “Concept Art” and how is it different from “fan art”?

Concept art is the process of creating a visual representation of a design. Concept art is generally produced by an artist and used as a tool for communicating with other members of a production team, including directors and producers. Concept artists are often hired during the pre-production phase of a project, but they can also be hired during post-production or even later in the development cycle.

It’s very different from fan art, which typically uses existing characters, settings, or universes to create new art that’s inspired by the original content.

Concept artists often use traditional tools like pencils, paintbrushes, and paper while working on their creations. However, they can also use digital tools like Photoshop or 3D modeling software if they want to create something that’s more visually complex than what can be done with traditional methods.

Is Making Fan Art Illegal?

Fan art has been an essential part of the Internet for quite some time, but it can be confusing to figure out whether or not it’s legal. As a creator, you want to be able to express yourself however you like, but at the same time, you don’t want to get sued for using someone else’s intellectual property.

Fan art, or using someone else’s copyrighted material for a non-commercial purpose, is not illegal in the United States. However, that does not mean it is always legal. When it comes to the Fair Use Doctrine, there are several factors that must be considered before you can use copyrighted material.

The Fair Use Doctrine states that one can use copyrighted material in a manner that qualifies as fair use if they do so for educational purposes or criticism. This means that if you are making fan art or other forms of parody, then you should be fine as long as it is not being sold commercially and you are providing credit to the original creator.

But wait…exercise caution and do your legal homework.

Conclusion

Hope you enjoyed this round-up of Disney (and other favorites) related fan art. These collections represent a massive amount of incredible talent and we’re inspired by each piece of digital art.
