What kind of Rewards do you get with the Disney Visa Card?
Let’s start with an example:
Per Disney, a family of 4 can book a 6-night, 7-day vacation package at one of Disney’s Resorts including the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan with tickets that are valid at all 4 theme parks for $141 per person, per day.
Total example package price: $3,943
- If you book this on your Disney Visa Card, you will earn $394 Disney Rewards Dollars, plus a statement credit of $50.
- If you were to book this on your Disney Premier Visa Card, you would earn $788 Disney Rewards Dollars, plus a statement credit of $200.
In addition, if you’re spending those Disney Rewards Dollars in the park, during your vacation, you would save an additional 10% at the participating merchants. So, the savings can be substantial.
What is the Disney Visa Card?
If this is the first time you’ve considered putting your Disney vacation on a credit card, this can be overwhelming to understand.
Let’s break it down. There are two types of Disney Visa credit card:
- Disney Premier Visa
- Disney Visa Card
Note: neither the Disney Premier Visa nor the Disney Visa Card are the Disney Visa Debit Card. The Disney Visa Debit Card is not a credit card, but cardmembers still receive some perks. Some of the perks are similar, so if you’re not interested in a credit card, maybe the debit card would be right for you. I’ll have a breakdown of the Disney Chase Debit Card in another post.
What’s the difference between the Disney Premier Visa and the Disney Visa Card?
So, what are the differences between the Disney Premier Visa and the Disney Visa Card?

What are the Disney Chase Visa perks?
So, that’s all great, and shows you the basic differences between the two Disney cards, but what are the Disney Chase Visa perks?
Sign Up Bonus: $150 or $300
You get a sign-on bonus of $150 for signing up for the Disney Visa card
or
$300 for signing up for the Disney Premier Visa card.
They call this a statement credit, which you get after qualifying purchases. We’ll talk about that more in a minute.
10% off Park Purchases & Dining at Disneyland and Walt Disney World
You get 10% off select purchases at certain locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. So, there’s your souvenirs–but what about those dining options with the Disney Chase Visa card? Well, you get 10% off select dining most days at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
So, you’re earning as you charge.
10% off select purchases at Disney Store or shopDisney.com
Use a Disney Visa or Disney Premier Visa at the store or online to get the discount.
10% off select purchases aboard Disney Cruise Line
You get the same savings aboard Disney Cruise Line when you use your card to pay for select onboard purchases, plus you get 10% off your Castaway Cay Getaway Package.
Private Member-Only Character Meet-n-Greets / Photo Opportunities
Get access to Disney Visa Cardmember-exclusive photo opportunities with Disney or Star Wars Characters that are held in private locations at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Don’t worry, we’ll chat more about that later in this article.
Disney Reward Dollars
The biggest perk of the Disney Visa card is the rewards dollars–because those rack up fast. But they’re different for both the Disney Visa card and the Disney Premier Visa card.
Let’s breakdown each of these perks.
What is a Statement Credit?
When you sign-up for the Disney Visa Premier Card, you get a $300 statement credit after you spend $1000 on purchases in the first 3 months after you’ve opened the account.
When you sign-up for the Disney Visa card, you get a $150 statement credit after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months after you’ve opened the account.
So, what is a statement credit?
Your credit card statement will show a positive credit toward your balance.
So, instead of giving you rewards or money directly, the credit card company adds the amount back to your account balance, reducing the amount you owe or going toward your interest due.
The Biggest Disney Visa Card Perks: Disney Reward Dollars
Disney Visa Rewards Dollars
The biggest Disney Visa rewards perk is that you earn $1 in “Disney Rewards” for every $100 that you spend on qualifying purchases.
These rewards can be redeemed on your statement as a statement credit, or at any of the Disney parks for purchases like snacks, souvenirs, tickets, and all that.
Additionally, when you use Disney Reward Dollars (via a Disney Rewards Redemption Card), you get 10% off select items at Disney Store and shopDisney.com.
Disney Premier Visa Rewards Dollars
The Disney Premier Visa rewards dollars are earned at $2 in rewards for every $100 that you spend on gas station purchases, grocery store purchases and most restaurant purchases as well as purchases at most Disney locations.
For all the other purchases you might make on your Disney credit card, you earn $1 for every $100 that you spend.
See? Racks up fast.
Just like with the Disney Visa card rewards, these rewards can be redeemed on your statement as a statement credit, or at any of the Disney parks for purchases like snacks, souvenirs, tickets, and all that.
Also, use Disney Reward Dollars (via a Disney Rewards Redemption Card) at Disney Store or shopDisney and you’ll get 10% off select items.
What are Disney Reward Dollars?
“Disney Reward Dollars” is credit you earn for using your Disney Visa Card or Disney Visa Premier Card.
You don’t have to do anything but use your card to earn these Disney Reward Dollars.
You’ll earn Reward Dollars when you make purchases at the gas station, grocery store and most restaurants, as well as purchases at most Disney locations.
Then you can use them in a variety of ways.
Where Can You Redeem Disney Visa Rewards Dollars?
Of course, it’s no good to rack up all those rewards dollars if you don’t know how to use them. Disney has made this really simple.
You can redeem your Disney rewards dollars at Walt Disney World and Disneyland toward park tickets, resort stays, shopping, dining and more.
But you don’t even have to be at a Disney park to redeem your rewards–you can use them to watch your favorite new Disney movies at participating theaters, at the Disney Store or on shopDisney.com.
You can even redeem your rewards dollars toward Disney Cruise Line packages, toward your onboard activities and souvenirs onboard.
With the Disney Premier Visa, you can redeem your Rewards Dollars for airline statement credit.
If you forget to redeem your dollars while you’re out and about, when you get home, you can redeem them toward your balance.
How do you redeem Disney Rewards?
You can sign in to your Disney account to link it with your Disney Visa Card account.
Once connected, you can:
- Check your Disney Rewards Dollars balance
- Request a Disney Rewards Redemption Card (when you’ve earned at least 20 Disney Rewards Dollars)
- Transfer Rewards Dollars to a Disney Rewards Redemption Card to Reload It
- Redeem Disney Rewards Dollars toward airline travel (Disney Visa Premier card holders only)
What is a Disney Rewards Redemption Card?
The only way to use your Disney Rewards Dollars is to either redeem them on the airline travel for Disney Visa Premier card holders, or to request a Disney Rewards Redemption Card.
Img: DisneyRewards.com
The Disney Rewards Redemption Card is essentially like a debit or credit card that they send you that’s pre-loaded with your rewards.
You can reload it, like a prepaid card, or simply allow the rewards you accumulate using your Disney Visa Card to be put directly onto the Disney Rewards Redemption Card.
When you’re ready to request a Disney Rewards Redemption Card, you’ll want to do it about 3 weeks in advance of your vacation, that way you can have it in plenty of time.
But! Don’t despair if you forget. There are several locations at both Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resorts where you can pick up a Disney Rewards Redemption Card.
Here are the locations where you can get a Disney Rewards Redemption Card:
DISNEYLAND:
- Disneyland Guest Relations at City Hall
- Disney California Adventure, Guest Relations window at the entrance to the Park
- Disney California Adventure, inside Chamber of Commerce
WALT DISNEY WORLD:
- Magic Kingdom Guest Relations Window
- Magic Kingdom Guest Relations at City Hall
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guest Relations
- Epcot Guest Relations
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Guest Relations
- Guest Relations Welcome Center at Disney Springs Town Center
How do you use Disney Rewards Redemption Card?
You just use your Disney Rewards Redemption Card like a debit or credit card when you go to purchase your park tickets or make purchases in the park.
You can even give it to your kids to use at the park on the things they’d like to buy, although, a little parental supervision is strongly encouraged, as you’ll want to be handy to provide identification.
You can use your Disney Rewards Redemption Card on purchases at most Disney locations, in combination with cash or accepted credit or debit cards and in conjunction with other offers.
So, if you want the 10% off with your Disney Visa Card, you can combine this with your Disney Rewards Redemption Card. Basically, you should carry it in your wallet so you’re always ready to redeem when you’re on vacation!
How do you check balance of Disney Rewards Redemption Card?
If you want to check the balance on your Disney Rewards Redemption Card, you can go to DisneyRewards.com/ManageAccount and login to your account or call 1-800-300-8575 if you’re not able to get online.
If you’ve used your Redemption Card to buy something, your Disney Rewards Dollars remaining balance will be printed on your receipt.
Do Disney Rewards expire?
Yes. You have five years after earning your Disney Rewards to use them. So, you should check your balance frequently enough to keep from letting them expire–good reason to book your vacation!
Is there Special Vacation Financing with the Disney Visa Credit Card?
If you’re considering financing your vacation with your Disney Visa Credit Card, you’re definitely going to want to know about the special vacation financing on select Disney Resort packages.
The packages include:
- All Adventures by Disney® packages (to travel all over the world)
- All Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai‘i vacation packages
- All Disney Cruise Line packages
To get this special financing, your Disney Vacation Packages have to be booked by you (or your travel agent) through the Walt Disney Travel Company, Disney Cruise Line or Adventures by Disney Travel Services, Inc.
What is the Special Vacation Financing with the Disney Visa Premier Credit Card?
The special vacation financing really is special. You get 0% financing for 6 months from the date of your purchase, then the rate goes to a variable rate of about 18%, but you’ve got 6 months to pay that initial purpose off.

Are there Specific Disney Cruise Perks with the Disney Visa?

Then, when you get on the ship, your “Key to the World” card will indicate that you’re a Disney Visa Cardmember and eligible for all the perks. Then, while you’re cruisin’, be sure to mention any of these perks and how you’re using the Disney Visa Card to make sure you receive the savings.
Can You Use Your Disney Chase Visa at Aulani Resort?
Absolutely. When you talk to your travel agent or book your stay at Aulani resort, just let them know that you’re paying with your Disney Visa Card and then make sure you mark that as your form of payment for the duration of your stay.

Can you purchase Disney gift cards with the Disney Visa?
Yes, you can. I don’t know why you would. It’s not going to get you any additional savings, but you can buy gift cards with the Disney Visa Card.
How do You Get the Disney Visa Credit Card?
Is the Disney Visa Card hard to get?
No! You can apply online here in just a few simple steps.
What does your credit score need to be to get the Disney Credit Card?
The baseline of “good” which is 660 is the minimum score to be able to be approved for the Disney Credit Card.
How do you apply for the Disney Credit Card?
It’s really easy to apply, just go online here. There will be easy steps to follow and they’ll check your credit score.
What Designs can I get for my Disney Visa Credit Card?
There are a ton of different designs for the Disney Visa Credit Card. You can select one when you apply, then change your mind in a couple of weeks. You can just ask them to send you a new design–free of charge, anytime.
How long does it take for the Disney Credit Card to arrive after I’m approved?
Although Chase says to wait 30 days, general consensus is anywhere between 5 days and 3 weeks. As with any credit card, though, you can use your credit card immediately, if you call them and get the number. Or, you can always ask them to ship it to you overnight–that’s something they’d be happy to do.
Is the Disney Visa Card included in Chase Bank’s 5/24 Rule?
The “5/24 Rule” is an internal, unpublished rule-of-thumb within Chase that basically says that if you’ve opened more than 5 credit lines in less than 24 months, they will not approve you for a new credit line.
This is just an informal, crowdsourced name that comes only from the internet–not from any official Chase publication.
However, it is something to keep in mind, because, although, again, this is an unpublished rule, it is likely that the Chase Disney Visa Cards are all subject to this rule.
Who can I contact for help with my Disney Credit Card?
If you have questions or need help with your Disney Credit Card account, you can go online to https://chaseonline.chase.com/ or you can call customer service at 1-800-300-8575.

Is there a Disney Credit Card Referral Program?
Yes. You receive 100 Disney Rewards Dollars for each of your friends approved for the Disney Visa Card. The most Disney Rewards Dollars you can earn in a calendar year is 500.
If you want to refer a friend to get the card, make sure they name you as their referral so that you can get the points. You can refer as many friends as you want.
What are some additional ways to get more out of my Disney Visa Card?
There are definitely other ways to enjoy the rewards from your Disney Visa Card and here are a few of my favorite:
- Broadway and Disney On Ice shows and with exclusive VIP packages, including:
- Premium seating
- Non-alcoholic beverage in a keepsake cup
- Commemorative print
- Star Wars movies:
- Use your Disney Rewards Redemption Card to redeem toward Star Wars movie tickets at AMCTheatres, on the AMC Theatres mobile app or to order vouchers redeemable for tickets at other participating theaters.
- Disney Store events:
- Get access to exclusive events at your local Disney store by registering at Chase.com to receive Cardmember emails, including invitations to Disney store events in your area.
What Happened to the Chase Lounge at Epcot?
There used to be a cardmember favorite, a Chase Disney Visa Card Member’s Lounge at Food & Wine Festival, a “Members Only” Lounge area that was available to guests visiting Epcot throughout the International Food & Wine Festival.
The lounge, located at the American Pavilion, was an oasis of calm in a sea of very busy festival goings-ons where guests could cool off and take a moment. They had places to recharge your cell phones and cameras and even take a few minutes to sip a free Coke. But, that was recently removed.
And though there are rumors that an agreement has been formalized between Chase and Disney to potentially re-open the lounge, nothing has been officially announced, so it’s just a rumor.
Conclusion
Whew! That was a lot of information about the Disney Visa Credit Card. And this isn’t even an exhaustive discussion, as they are always adding new perks and making it more fun to use your rewards at Disney.
And, as you can tell, this is a complex subject and there are a lot of reasons to get a Disney Visa Card or Disney Visa Premier Card.
Of course, you should check out all of the terms and conditions online. There’s so much more there than I can possibly chat about here.
If you love this discussion about the Disney Visa Card, be sure to pin it to your favorite Disney Vacation board–that way you can find it again easily.

Is the Disney Visa Card Worth it?
Are you a Disney Visa cardholder? If so, will you please chime in…
Your thoughts and experiences can really help others who are making the decision whether or not to use this card.
Let us know your thoughts!
This was really informative. I can see how it might be beneficial to apply for one of these, especially if you do anything Disney related quite often.
Yes, it can be useful for Disney fans.
This was SOOO helpful!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Such great information! Thank you!
This is such great information! I can’t see any reason why this wouldn’t benefit all of us that love Disney so much. Thank you!
I disagree with your example of using your card to pay for WDW package….you estimated the redemption award wrong…you get $1 reward for every $100 spent not $10.
Yes! I love the discount on the restaurants that I was probably going to visit in the parks anyways. That savings adds up over the course of a few days!
Yes I have benefited using it on all purchases
I have had one for over 10 years now. First let me say it is a credit card, don’t care a balance if you want it to actually be beneficial. Second I use if for every purchase and pay off the balance at the end of the month. I do have the premiere card which has an annual fee, but I figured it up and with never paying interest and the money it has saved me at Disney the $70 annual fee was worth it. (you collect Disney dollars faster) and Have taken 8 Disney vacations which have been mostly or all paid for and am not waiting until I have enough to pay for the Star Wars Galatic Cruise. Highly recommend….. As long as you can handle a credit card and don’t carry balances!
Great analysis – thanks for sharing!
Yes, as long as you don’t carry a balance. I use mine for everyday purchases and pay it off monthly. I also put my big expenses such as vet bills on it and, again, pay it off monthly. I’ve used the accumulated points to take my family to Disneyland twice , DisneyWorld once, and will be buying tickets to DisneyWorld again for three this fall.
Fantastic! Glad you’ve been able to get such great value out of it.
I don’t know yet. I just got the card.
Nice – let us know when you discover if it helps you.
Yes, if you’re planning a Disney trip in your future. I think I started my account about a year before we planned our trip with our two daughters. The money I accrued on the card went to dining expenses and souvenirs for the girls. I was very happy with that.
