Disney Wonder History

Disney Wonder joined the Disney Cruise Line fleet in August 1999, as the second ship in the DCL family.

The Disney Wonder underwent extensive renovations while in dry dock from September 9 to October 23, 2016, in Cadiz, Spain.

DISNEY WONDER DINING

Main Dining

About Disney Wonder Restaurants

Introducing "Rotational Dining."

Disney Cruise Line offers a different dining experience each night, as you will rotate between three main restaurants for your dinner. Your service crew will rotate with you!

Here are the three Disney Wonder restaurants that are included in rotational dining.

Tiana's Place

Deck 3

A Disney Wonder signature restaurant, Tiana’s Place was added to the ship's rotational dining when it was refurbished in 2016.

The theme and menu is inspired by Disney's The Princess and the Frog. The cuisine is Louisiana-inspired and live jazz music and entertaining storytelling make this a lot of fun.

Triton's

Deck 3

In The Little Mermaid, Ariel's father's name is Triton, king of the sea.

Part of the rotational dining, one of your dinner's will take place here. Additionally, the restaurant is open daily for breakfast and lunch. The theme is "underwater elegance", to remind us of Ariel's underwater kingdom.

Animator's Palate

Deck 4

Our personal favorite restaurant and beloved by most cruisers. Disney animations come to life...while you eat. We won't say too much here, but check out my Animator's Palate tips here - read tips #43-46.

Casual Dining

Disney Wonder Cabanas
CABANAS

Deck 9

We spend a lot of time in this buffet restaurant. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, for those who prefer to skip their rotational dining or are late to their Main Dining seating.

You'll find a wide variety of entrees, desserts, snacks, appetizers, etc. Some offerings change from meal to meal, and others are regular staples. If you find a favorite dish, this can be comforting for the ultra-picky child that will only eat certain things.

DAISY'S DE-LITES

Deck 9

This snack bar is located poolside. Salads, sandwiches, wraps and fruits - you'll find a healthier fare here.

PRELUDES

Deck 4

Just outside the Walt Disney Theatre, this snack bar is convenient when you're jonesing for some popcorn or soda during a show. All items sold here are an additional charge.

EYE SCREAM TREATS

Deck 9

Free ice cream! Indulge every craving while on your Disney Cruise.

Features soft-serve ice cream with plenty of toppings. The kids may have gone just a little crazy with this all-you-can-eat (okay me too) but hey...it's vacation!

SULLEY'S SIPS

Deck 9

Smoothies, specialty coffee, tea, beer, and other adult beverages are available to purchase. This is close to the soft service ice cream.

PETE'S BOILER BITES

Deck 9

If you don't want to venture into Cabanas for lunch, grab something from Pete's. Tacos, burgers, and hot dogs.

PINOCCHIO'S PIZZERIA

Deck 9

Pizza is served here all day long. It's not fancy, but sometimes it is super convenient and easy to grab a slice or two when you have a craving because they are constantly baking fresh pizza.

Disney Wonder Beverage Station
BEVERAGE STATION

Deck 9

If you're like me, you'll spend a lot of time visiting the Beverage Station on Deck 9.

Complimentary drinks available: water, soda, juices, coffee, tea, milk, fruit punch, lemonade, and hot cocoa.

The bars and lounges on board will charge you extra for sodas, but it is free here. See tip #48 on my Disney Cruise Tips to enjoy more free soda.

Disney Wonder Preludes
ROOM SERVICE

Brought to your stateroom

Disney Wonder's room service menu is extensive and available at any time of the night or day.

For more info on Disney Wonder room service, read tips 54-59 of my 101 Disney Cruise Tips.

Exclusive Dining

Looking for an adult only meal? Or something that will make your little one beam for days on end? The Disney Wonder offers exclusive dining opportunities to fulfill those wishes.

Palo

Deck 10

This is the Disney Wonder's finest dining experience and it is exclusively for adults.

The Northern Italian cuisine is worth the additional fee you pay for it, and when you couple delicious cooking with spectacular sea views, you have a brunch or dinner to remember.

Reservations are required and there's a dress code as well, so refer to our Disney Cruise packing list for advice on what to wear.

Royal Court Royal Tea

Deck 3 at Triton's

Little princes or princesses (3 to 12) can join their favorite Disney characters for a tea party. While this tea party has an additional fee, it includes a chance to meet one-on-one with the princesses and take home a few royal gifts.

DISNEY WONDER ENTERTAINMENT

Shows

Every evening on the Disney Wonder, a marquee entertainment event will take place in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Types of shows include premium Broadway-caliber performances, along with hypnotists, musicians, jugglers, comedians, or a feature movie – typically something Disney-owned that is new to theaters or is coming soon.

The Walt Disney Theatre is located on Deck 4 Forward.

Frozen, A Musical Spectacular

One of the newest shows in the entire Disney Cruise fleet, Frozen is only shown on Disney Wonder. It is SO good; everyone raves about it. If you’re only going to see one show while aboard the ship – not recommended – make sure it’s this one.

The Golden Mickeys

Your family will walk the red carpet en route to this gala celebration of Disney movies. It's a Hollywood-worthy award show.

Disney Dreams

An Enchanted Classic. Disney will inspire your entire family with this classic musical.

Deck Parties

Sail-Away Celebration

This is the first party of the Disney Wonder voyage. Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale will dance with you as you pull away from port.

Frozen Deck Party

One day, you'll step into the atrium and find it has been converted into a winter wonderland, where you will meet all sorts of characters from Arendelle.

This is the start of a day of Frozen-themed activities (scavenger hunt, dinner, evening show, etc).

Disney Wonder: Pirate Night! See the shows and fireworks!

Pirate Night

Our favorite! Dress up like a pirate to celebrate a full day of activities, character greetings, and a very cool deck party.

Of course, it ends with a bang, as fireworks are fired into the night sky off the deck of the Disney Wonder.

Note: some sailings (like some Alaska) don't feature fireworks.

Pixar Pals Party

On Alaska itineraries, you'll get to party with Toy Story, Up, and Monsters Inc characters.

Seasonal Celebrations

When you sail at Halloween or Christmas time, you'll experience a magical set of seasonal activities and parties.

Character Greetings

Meet and Greet Characters on Disney Wonder

Meet and Greets

One of our favorite parts of any Disney Cruise is getting to meet some of our favorite characters.

We take an autograph book (see our packing list) and collect as many signatures as we can.

The times and characters available to meet vary, so check the DCL app each day.

Frozen Meet and Greet on Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

Free Ticketed Events

You'll need tickets (they're free at online checkin) for these events:

  • Frozen Meet and Greet
  • Princess Gathering
  • Heroic Encounters
  • Star Wars Character Experience

There are a limited number of tickets available so reserve them during online checkin. If they are sold out, visit Guest Services as soon as you get on the ship; there are often tickets available there.

Disney Wonder: Disney Character Breakfast

Character Breakfast

On select 7+ night cruises, you can eat breakfast with Disney and Disney Junior Characters. They go from table to table, posing for photos, giving high fives, and saying hi.

Tickets are FREE, but they are limited. Again, you'll want to jump on these during online check-in.

Kids Clubs

Disney Wonder: It's a Small World Nursery
IT'S A SMALL WORLD NURSERY

Deck 5

Childcare for your wee ones. You can leave kids ages 6 months to 3 years old at the nursery.

The Cast Members at the nursery are well-trained Disney counselors who will feed your child at the proper time, change diapers, and lead the kids in crafts, activities and games.

Additional charge and reservations suggested.

OCEANEER CLUB & LAB

Deck 5

Children ages 3-12 will love hanging out with Disney Characters each day. Each room in the club has a fun theme, completely developed by the best Disney imagineers, such as Andy’s Room, Marvels Super Hero Academy, Disney Junior or Frozen Adventures.

Don’t be surprised if you barely see your kids during the cruise!

EDGE

Deck 9

This hangout is perfect for the tweens and offers a space for them to watch movies, craft, play games and hang out with other kids their age (ages 11-14).

VIBE

Deck 11

Teens 14-17 will have a blast at Vibe, whether it’s listening to music, dancing or competing with other teens to get the highest video game score. Did I mention you might not see your kids that much?

CHILL SPA

Deck 9

BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BOUTIQUE

Deck 10

Disney Wonder's very own salon where boys are transformed into knights or pirates, and girls become beautiful princesses. For ages 3-12. Additional charges apply, but at least stop by and get the FREE pixie dust.

Adults Only (18 and up)

AZURE

Drinks, dancing and live music can be found in this lively nightclub.

CADILLAC LOUNGE

Deck 3

Live piano music and a taste of Hollywood glitz will keep the adults coming back night after night.

CROWN & FIN PUB

Deck 3

This bar is set up to resemble a pub in England. Come grab a drink...make it a frosty pint of something.

SIGNALS BAR

Deck 9

Next to the Quiet Cove Pool, this open air bar is a great spot for getting a drink while gazing at the sea.

COVE CAFE

Deck 9

It's an indoor-outdoor loung that overlooks the Quiet Cove Pool. They serve baked goods, drinks, and high-end coffee.

SENSES SPA & SALON

Deck 9

High end salon treatments in a gorgeous spa setting with incredible ocean views.

More Family Fun

Promenade Lounge

Deck 3

It's a full service bar, but they also play family games and host live shows and dances here.

D Lounge

Deck 4

The whole family is welcome to party the night away at the D Lounge. This is the site of some epic Karaoke for our family. Music, games and live entertainment are just a few of the things you’ll find here.

Disney Wonder: Buena Vista Theatre

Buena Vista Theatre

Deck 5

Watch classic movies (usually Disney) or blockbuster new releases (also usually Disney). If you have a couple of hours to kill and you want to escape the sun, this art deco styled movie theater is a fine place to do it.

Funnel Vision

Deck 9

Funnel Vision is a giant screen that shows Disney movies while you chill on Deck 9 or swim in Goofy’s Pool.

Called “Funnel Vision” because it’s mounted onto the forward funnel of the ship.

It's a huge LED screen, totally state of the art.

DISNEY WONDER POOLS

Goofy's Pool & Mickey's Pool

Deck 9

These two main pools on the Disney Wonder are freshwater. There are two whirlpool spas for parents and kids to use together. Lots of fun to hang out poolside, soak up some sun, and watch Funnel Vision movies.

AquaLab

Deck 9

It's the ultimate splashpad. AquaLab features the Twist ‘n’ Spout waterslide, pouring paint cans, leaky pipes and Donald’s Boiler.

Twist n' Spout

Deck 9

Two loops make this Disney Wonder water slide a great option for bigger kids. Over 250 feet, this is the centerpiece of the Disney Wonder AquaLab.

Dory's Reef

Deck 9

The Disney Wonder devotes 400 square feet to a delightful splash deck for toddlers 3 years and under.

Quiet Cove Pool

Deck 9

My personal favorite because hey, no kids allowed! This adult only area is designated as a sanctuary for grownups to escape the kids...err, relax and unwind. It's much quieter and they serve cocktails. Must be age 18+.

DISNEY WONDER SPORTS & RECREATION

Running Track

Deck 4

Deck 4 has a 1/3 mile track that allows you to run the length of the ship on the port and starboard sides. Enjoy a dazzling view of the open ocean while you run.

Shuffleboard

Deck 4

I don't think my family knows the REAL rules of shuffleboard, but that doesn't stop us from having a grand old time on the shuffleboard court.

Wide World of Sports

Deck 4

This open-air section of the ship boasts ping-pong, basketball courts, and soccer nets.

Fitness Center

Deck 9

Eat a little too much last night? Work it off at the Fitness Center. I don't normally enjoy working out on vacation, but with the ocean view here...why not?

Gym is free but they have classes for an additional fee. Must be 18 or older to use the Disney Wonder fitness center.

DISNEY WONDER SHOPPING

Sea Treasures

Deck 3

Nautical apparel and official DCL collectibles. These signature items are only available on Disney Cruise Line ships.

White Caps

Deck 4

The one-stop shop onboard. Jewelry, duty-free liquor and cigars, as well as sundries and fragrances.

Mickey's Mainsail

Deck 4

Costumes and accessories go with other DCL merchandise.

Vista Gallery

Deck 4

Shutters: The Onboard Photography Shop

Deck 4

This is where you can view all of your cruise photos or arrange private photo sessions with Disney Wonder's seasoned photographers.

DISNEY WONDER CONCIERGE

The most luxury and premium stateroom experience you can purchase on Disney Cruise Line is called Concierge.

Concierge Guests have exclusive access to special, Concierge-only areas on the ship, including the Concierge Lounge and Concierge Sundeck.

Concierge Lounge

Deck 10

Concierge guests will enjoy this luxurious, chic escape from the rest of the ship.

The Concierge Level Lounge allows guests to access the internet, drink a cocktail, watch news or sports on a huge TV, and partake of complimentary beverages and food served throughout the day.

Concierge Sundeck

Deck 11

Connected to the Concierge Lounge, by a short staircase, you'll find a sundeck available only to Concierge level guests.

Perched above the Quiet Cove Pool, it's a quiet area for sunning and relaxing.

It offers expansive views of the ocean in virtually all directions, and if you want a soda or snack, just pop back into the Concierge Lounge.

Towels and sunscreen are provided.

OTHER ONBOARD SERVICES

Health Center

Deck 1

The Health Center is available when you're feeling sick, need first aid or have a medical emergency.

The clinic keeps regular daily hours to offer care for non-emergencies. If you have an emergency, the ship has a doctor and nurse on call 24/7.

Tender Lobbies

Deck 1

When arriving at most destinations, the Disney Wonder will dock at a pier, allowing guests to walk off the ship using a gangway.

There are ports, however, where the ship is required to anchor offshore and take a "tender" -- a small boat -- from the ship to the dock.

Guest Services

Deck 3

Got a question or request? This is your place. I have found the crew that manages Guest Services to be very responsive and caring.

They can help you make spa appointments or dining reservations, plan your vacation by explaining activities, ship amenities, and the ship schedule.

Questions with your bill are handled here. You may also request a free crib or diaper genie here. Book these when you first arrive to make sure you get one.

Port Adventures Desk

Deck 3

Port Adventures Desk will help you plan or book excursions through Disney Cruise Line.

Onboard Sales Desk

Deck 4

Plan and book future Disney Cruises. Why would you book a Disney cruise while on a Disney cruise, you ask? You’d be surprised by how many people do!

It’s all about the perks. It’s pretty much the only way to get a Disney cruise for a discounted price.

Here’s the low down:

  • 10% discount on prevailing rates on your next cruise (concierge-level excluded)
  • Stateroom credit of $100 (3-6 nights) or $200 (7-night cruises or longer)
  • Reduced Deposit on 7-night sailings or longer

You don’t have to decide on a date while on the ship. Just put a $250 deposit down as a placeholder for a future cruise and sail within the next 24 months.

Laundry Facilities

Decks 2,6,7

The Wonder's self-serve laundry facilities are located on decks 2,6,&7 at mid-ship. Each location has 5 washers, 5 dryers, and 2 irons.

Or if you prefer, full-service laundry and dry cleaning is available as well. Just contact Guest Services for pickup.
