What is Star Wars Day at Sea?

The Star Wars Day at Sea is a special day on select sailings of the Disney Fantasy.

It is one of two themed sailing events put on by DCL every year; the other being the Marvel Disney Cruise.

This unique Disney Cruise Line itinerary brings all things from “a galaxy far, far away” to your floating vacation on the Caribbean.

From characters to fireworks to exclusive shows, passengers can immerse in a full day Star Wars experience on a Star Wars Disney cruise.

How is Star Wars Day at Sea sailing different than a regular Disney Cruise?

The Star Wars Day at Sea focuses on shows, events, and encounters from the legendary Star Wars saga for a full day.

Special themed events include the following:

  • Massive Galactic-Deck Spectacular Evening Show
  • A firework show with the soundtrack playing
  • Jedi Training for children
  • BB-8 Races
  • Movie viewings of Star Wars films

The Star Wars experience actually begins the night before Star Wars day with a galactic empire takeover of the ship the night before from Darth Vader himself.

Introduced on the intercom with the Imperial March theme, Darth Vader with his Stormtroopers announce the cruise is now “under their control”. In the main hall area, they then ask passengers who will join the Empire in finding rebel scum.

During Star Wars Day, passengers will have special encounters with Star Wars characters roaming the ship.

Merchandise onboard switches to all things Star Wars in its boutiques, and the food and drinks served in Disney Cruise restaurants take on a galactic twist to them.

On top of the things this special cruise provides, the attendees on the ship help make Star Wars Disney cruise unique. You can expect to see more Star Wars clothing, cosplay and gear on fellow shipmates.

As attendees immerse themselves in the Star Wars-themed ambiance aboard the Disney cruise, the spirit of cosplay thrives among fellow shipmates. Enthusiasts don their meticulously crafted costumes, resembling iconic characters from the beloved franchise. Amidst the vibrant sea of Star Wars clothing and gear, the allure of wielding a katana can captivate the attention of both spectators and cosplayers alike.

With its elegant craftsmanship and historical significance, a Real katana can become the perfect complement to an intricately detailed Jedi or Sith ensemble, adding an element of authenticity and intrigue to the cosplay experience. Whether adorning the robes of a wise Jedi Knight or embracing the dark allure of a Sith Lord, the presence of a real katana serves as a symbol of dedication and craftsmanship, embodying the spirit of the Star Wars universe in every stroke.

Another fun tradition of the Star Wars cruise involves many shipmates wearing Star Wars themed dresses for Formal Night. People are highly encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters on this day.

Once Star Wars Day at Sea is over, the remaining rest of the 7-night Caribbean cruise proceeds with normal Disney Cruise days at sea. In contrast, a regular Disney Cruise will barely show anything from Star Wars and generally focus on its main line of characters.
